Igor Banfi was born on the 7th of August 1973 in Murska Sobota, Slovenia. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, where he completed the specialistic study of painting in 1997 under the menthorship of prof. Andrej Jemec. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2000 under the mentorship of prof. Lojze Logar. His is a freelance artist since 2000. He is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Prekmurje and Prlekija as well the Association of Associations of Slovenian Fine Artists. Since his first personal exhibition in 1994, he has had 27 solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, France, Macedonia, Hungary, Turkey, Slovakia and has received several awards, including the Grand Atonement Award at Ex -tempur Piran 2008. He lives and works in Ljubljana and Murska Sobota. His paintings are imaginary worlds flooded with a particularly warm light, and the pieces are controlled by transparency and an intimate atmosphere, extending to the realm of the transcendental. He does not imitate nature but he depicts it through the prism of his own personal minimalistic vision.
