Painter Janko Orač was born 1958 in Celje, Slovenia. He completed his secondary education at the Ljubljana Graphic Design School and, in 1997, graduated from the College for Visual Arts in Ljubljana. The artist held more than fifty solo exhibitions, while the most thorough insight into his twenty-year art opus was organised in 2002 at the Celje Gallery of Modern Arts. Janko Orač has received numerous awards; as a freelance artist, he works in the fields of painting, print, drawing, and graphic design, and is a member of the Union of the Slovenian Fine Artists Associations. Janko Orač lives and works in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The colours and landscape motifs in his paintings define the painter’s artistic searches in which distinct and contextually-formed images, with a sequence of symbolic and metaphorical challenges establishing a certain kind of intimate relationship with the viewer, speak their language. In spite of numerous painter’s interventions, the paintings remain bright and “airy”, full of optimism, with colour as a primary element of the artist’s vision of nature that remains the source of his artistic searches.
