Marušič Živko
Marušič was born on 20th September 1945 in Colorno, Italy. From 1967 to 1971 he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice (under professors B. Saetti and C. Zotti) and pursued his post-graduate studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. In 1977 he resided in Paris on a grant from Moša Pijade Fund (studying French Realist painting), while in 1981/82 he received grants from the Culture Association to study in Venice and Rome. He received the Jakopič Award in 1998 and the Prešeren Fund Award in 1999. In 1998 he exhibited at the Sao Paulo Biennial. He lives in Koper and has worked as a freelance artist since 1971. He used to work also in Trieste. In 1995 he has added for the first time his daughter's name Ira to his signature, her interventions on his paintings can be noticed. Since 1999 he has cooperated with Huiquin Wang (a chinese artist living in Slovenia). His main interest is painting (beginning with hyperrealist monochromatic, yet still sensual paintings, his art moved on to the direction of colourful new images and then into colourful figural art).
