Dušan Tršar
After having graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Ljubljana towards the end of 1960’s, Dušan Tršar (b. 1937) launched an independent career. As member of a group of neo-constructivists, within the next decade he commanded attention with diversified light objects. These combined a traditional sculpting approach with a propensity for the effects of contemporary materials that enable transparency, radiation and illumination. Tršar then began to mould the characteristic forms that had emerged from these phenomena into more solid materials, predominantly bronze, a substance that has remained both a challenge and an inspiration. Indubitably an artist who is always keen to follow the latest trends in fine art, Tršar has from the very beginning aspired towards contemporary fine-art, as well as technical experiments.
